Deputies investigating mother and teenage son's deaths in southeast Harris County, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway into the deaths of a mother and her teenage son on Tuesday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Pct. 2 deputies responded to the 9400 block of Windy Spring Lane at about 6:25 a.m. and found a 17-year-old male with gunshot wounds. Authorities said the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff said a woman in her 40s was also found with gunshot wounds to the face. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died, officials said.

According to HCSO, the woman and the teenager were confirmed to be mother and son. Investigators said a sister, whose age and identity were not released by officials, was also inside the home at the time of the shooting, HCSO said.

The circumstances surrounding the victims' deaths are unknown at this time, investigators said.

Gonzalez said homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
